Banana Chocolate Chip Waffles with Walnut

Banana Chocolate Chip Waffles with Walnut

For those who like a little crunch, our walnut oat crumble is for you! Sprinkle it on top of our banana chocolate chip waffles and add a dollop of tangy plain yogurt for the perfect morning pick me up.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 6 minutes

Servings: 6 x 4” waffles

Ingredients:

For the waffles:

  • ⅔ cup Otherworld Banana Chocolate chip pancake mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp lemon zest

For the walnut crumble:

  • 2 tbs brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup oat flour
  • 1 ½ tbs vegan butter, cold
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of salt

Additional toppings:

  • plain vegan yogurt
  • honey

Directions:

For the waffles:

  1. Mix ingredients in a bowl until just combined. Cook on a hot waffle iron for 4-5 minutes, or until waffles are brown and easily release from the iron.

For the walnut crumble:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Combine all the crumble ingredients in a small bowl and use your fingers to mix everything together, taking care to break up the butter chunks. Scatter the crumble on the baking sheet and bake for 7-10 minutes, or until golden brown. Let the crumble cool, then break up with your fingers.
  3. Serve the waffles with a dollop of plain yogurt, walnut crumble, and a drizzle of honey.
